Musem of Natural History
One thing about this museum is that it has ALOT of stuff. ALOT! If I wanted to and if I had more time I could probably spend a couple days there. The Central Park Entrance to the Museum was quite a sight itself, and once you get inside it's even better. A huge Dino skeleton sits in the middle of the huge entrance room. Once I find my map of the place I can give you a better idea of what I saw and how much there is too see. They had animals on display in their natural habitat, native peoples, weapons, crafts, EVEREYTHING.

A couple cool things that stick out right now are: The HUGE canoe, gigantic tree segment, a model whale which seemed to be done on 1:1 ratio. I realize it's crazy the amount of information that is out there. I didn't get to spend a lot of time there so I had to skim a lot of the descriptions and such. Spent just about the whole day there. Space center was really neat it had this huge dome thingy that took up the whole part of the building that it was in. Dinosaur, Climate Changes, Birds, Mammals, Indigenous People, butterfly etc. etc. etc. There is ALOT. The amount of detail, research, and setup that goes into some of the stuff there is amazing. It was really really cool and I wish I could have spent more time there but o well.

Central Park

Central Park is like assiaboine park in Winnipeg x100. There are alot of rock formations the crop up all over the park, and alot of really nice foot bridges. There is so much space to do whatever you want, people are jogging, playing soccer, horse carriage ect. There are barely and cars that go through the park whic is nice. Also there are a couple ponds or whatever with turtles fish ect. Makes the park look really nice. I could probably spend all day in that park and just watching everybody. And I only saw a fraction of the park. There were special spots all over that I didn't have time to check out. One thing I remember was a authentic Egyptian artifact in the middle of the park kinda odd...

But ya so much to do and so much to see there, I would defently go back any time and check out the rest of the park, and ponds. Would have been nice if i had roller blades

Trump Tower

Was walking down 5th ave. and came across Trump Tower! Couldn't find it yesterday...Didn't go inside but I did take some pics. Maybe I will check out the inside tomorrow and go to the Trump Ice Cream Parlour. But I doubt that I will have time for that.

Jordan and Nicolai fly in tomorrow!

I have been writing down some keywords, and places to remind me to include them. I will probably re-write this every now and then until it is too my pleasing.

WTC Memorial Center

Today I went to WTC Memorial center. Which was very interesting but at the same time very tragic. The proposed memorial is not yet completed but what they plan to turn it into is beautiful. I saw where the towers used to stand and the construction site in it's place. The WTC center is filled with debris and derby from the aftermath of 9/11. Airplane doors, burnt flags, cards, pictures, cell phones...The hundreds of missing posters put up after the attack, audio excerpts from firefighters, police, civilians, and many more. The many, many photos of all the people who lost their lives that day.

There were twisted beams of metal, paper cranes, support from everywhere over the world. The whole time I think how could one human justify doing anything this horrific to many, many innocent people? Also they have cards written from people all over the world that visit the museum expressing there feelings. It's hard to describe the atmosphere of the WTC Center, and it's content's. To get a better understanding you would have to see it for yourself. Eventually I will put up all my photo's a few of which show what the area looks like today.

Battery Park, Seaport, Brooklyn Bridge
Battery Park is right by the water so it was quite a nice few. It was also right across from Ellis Island, and the statue of Liberty. But I unfortunately I missed the ferry. Another day. Right along the water they had a memorial which was visual stunning. So since I missed the ferry I continued to walk along the water and noticed the Brooklyn bridge so headed in that direction. Took some pics of the above ground metro system which I thought looked really neat. So eventually we come to the Sea Port which had a whole bunch of stuff shops, food ect.

Walked around for awhile admired the old style boats, and some other big ones. Got a quick hot-dog and eventually made my way to the top which gave me a good view of the Brooklyn bridge. Took a alot of pics of that and just took in the sights. Skyline made for some great pics.

Subway
At first I was a little apprehensive to take the subway but all was well. It's surprising how much there is right underneath the city. There is a ton of people taking the subways that come every few min. It's quite easy to navigate, some trains have a nifty electronic sign thingy some don't. And was serenaded with a lovely song by a local bum "Jessie's Girl". Got off somewhere around times square and got a few little things. Day just winded down from there

Tomorrow
Central Park, Museum of Natural History, and Trump Tower!

Monday, April 27th, 2009

I got off the plane expecting most of the people to have the New York accent but no. Then again most of the people in the area iam staying are tourists. There are a crap load of Taxi's in New York. There was probably 50-100 taxi's waiting at the airport to pick up people. Another thing I noticed when I got off the plan was the weather was nice and warm. Not like Winnipeg which is COLD. Jealous?

Times Square 7th ave.

First place I went to was Times Square. Cops are EVERYWHERE, but I suppose that's a good thing and I even got a picture with one! I will but up a picture of it later on...Saw the naked cowgirl was really impressed moving on...There is so much stuff around Times Square, and New York in general that it is a little overwhelming. I am surprised at how smoothly the traffic moves with the little space there is on the road.

And if your a pedestrian crossing the road it's probably a good idea to look both ways because I doubt they will stop but they do give you a quick honk. The sidewalks are crowded the stores are crowed and the street is crowded. They still have the "2009 Ball" setup on the building. During the day it looks pretty neat and at night it is almost completely different. There are some bleacher type thingy just for people to sit and take in the lights. I could probably just sit there for a long time and just watch all the people and lights. There are some really cool ads. There are whole stores dedicated to a single franchise.

I don't know how but apparently there is enough M&M products to fill 3 floors which I also have pictures of. Every Building is a sky scrapper which tends to make the store really narrow and a lot of floors. Also I saw Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.!(Forrest Gump)There is no such thing as a discreet store for example the McDonald's as 3 floors and a huge old school theater style sign outside.
